Also of interest: if you haven't seen it already, check out NYT's editorial series Harvesting Poverty about agricultural subsidies.

Is God a Libertarian?A Open Debate on Christianity and Libertarianism
6:15pm July 31st, 2003
Room 120/121 George Mason University Law School

Paul Niehaus, Harvard class of 2004, will be giving a short talk about coming to hold libertarian political views from a biblical basis.

He posits Christians should be interested in a political philosophy that is consistent with the Bible, and explains why this leads Christians to a classical liberal/libertarian position. An open forum will follow to discuss the formation of a consistent Christian political philosophy that respects free will and freedom.

Refreshments will be served.
Take the Orange line to the Virginia SQ/GMU stop. Cross Fairfax Ave and go right, one block to George Mason Law School (the large white building).

Evil at Work: There's a fascinating article in Time this week about mostly-futile U.S. Forest Service attempts to stop the increasing trend of marijuana growers operating on public lands. Notes Jerry Moore, the Forest Service's regional law enforcement chief: "We arrest people, but new players move in." I find it amazing that people can make these statements aloud and not see the policy implications that follow directly.
